Climate Crisis Exacerbates Water Crisis
Recent scientific data shows that global warming is happening fast, with severe events already taking place. Droughts, floods, storms, retreat of glaciers and sea-level rise all feature at the top of lists of expected impacts of climate change. All concern water. Water adaptation begins with rivers and river basins, the starting point for the flows of water we rely on for life and our livelihoods. To safeguard our well-being, and see development reach the impoverished, rivers will need to be resilient in the coming era of rapid global change. So what can we do?

Virtual water is the water 'embedded' in commodities. Producing goods and services requires water; the virtual-water-content of a product is the volume of freshwater used to produce the product, measured at the place where the product was actually produced.
